My dog has been limping a lot lately. She doesn’t seem to be in any pain though.

Try Nutro Natural Choice Senior food. It has much more glucosamine and chondroitin in it than any other brand. It is the best food I’ve ever had my 10yr ancient lab on and he is acting like a puppy again.

Some dogs are very stoic and you can be sure if she’s limping, she’s in pain. My bearded collie had arthritis at a pretty young age and the vet place him on Rimadyl. It really controlled the pain – he played like a puppy for years after getting arthritis. He had no distress with it, but I know it can have some terrible side affects, you need to talk to your vet and follow his recommendation for your dog.

Buffered aspirin will help with arthritis. Make sure that it is buffered… very vital. Also, make sure the dog has a cushioned bed to sleep on and keep the dog warm.
Exercise is very vital for an arthritic dog as well. Make sure that it is not too strenuous though.

I assume since the dog has been diagnosed by a Vet then they should have given you all the details, medicine, etc.
My dog is ancient and has arthritis. I feed her soft food only. A nice huge comfortable bed to sleep on.

Have you taken your critter to a vet?????? And do you have a positive diagnosis? If so,there is one rather excellent pain med. Rimadyl. And you don’t have to pay his prices. He is required to give you a script, and you can get it for way cheaper on the web. Google pet pharmacy, Petmeds.com and others. Don’t give your dog aspirin or tylenol or motrin — they are extremely sensitive to those drug, and could kill them.

It never hurts to have your dog looked at by your vet again just call and let them know whe is limping and te arthritis appears to be worse. You can try Glucosamine Geri Tabs or Metacam. You will need to get this from your vet. The Metacam works really excellent but is very costly. When your dog is sleeping place an electirc blanket on low under her bedding. Just like people when the weather gets colder the joints hurt more. Also question your vet about asprin once a day to help out.
I work in a vets office and this is the route we would take.
    Excellent luck

Make sure she has a nice soft place to lay or when she sleeps, and when you notice her trying to get up, if it looks like she is having distress try and help her out. Give her a small lift, so she doesn’t place all her weight on it. There might be some other things that your vet can suggest, if you walk her, don’t take her on too long of a walk, becasue she will get worn out easily and her legs will hurt a bit. Hope this helps.

I have arthritis in all my joints. I chose to go a natural route to feel beeter (since meds didnt help at all) one of the things that helped me the most was not using tap water anymore….I buy only spring water, and this is all I let my pets drink now too. it cant hurt to try it.
The one time I did give my dog tap water he finished up with a UTI. NO MORE TAP WATER for us!…
Excellent luck…I know how your poor pup feels

does she like water? water sure helps that problem.. warmth.
has the vet discussed alternatives for this dog to keep her active?
you can’t just let her sit around all the time when and if the pain comes? there are many things that one can do.
    there are gagets and medications…
    talk with the vet again.

My vet has told me I give my 14 year ancient dog baby asprin. Just in the morning. And it really helps her. The other drugs are very expensive so the baby asprin works fantastic. We have had no problems with it. But check with your vet first before trying this.
