It’s a Pain in Your Bottom

Piriformis Syndrome.

The Piriformis is one of the small muscles deep in the buttocks that rotates the leg outwards. It runs from the base of the spine and attaches to the thigh bone (femur) roughly where the outside crease in your bum is. The sciatic nerve runs very close to this muscle and sometimes even through it! If the muscle becomes tight it can place pressure on the sciatic nerve and cause pain which can radiate down the leg.

Did You Overcome Piriformis Syndrome? If So How?

Last year when getting ready for my wedding I did a lot of hill work on the treadmill. Well I over did it. here we are approx. 1.5 years later and I cant run more than 30min at the track without issue. I can feel the stride in my left leg (the side with the PS) being tighter and shorter than the one without PS. I’ve gained 20lbs because I cant workout like i used to. Is there a cure for this? What do I need to do?

Have Chronic Piriformis Nerve Entrapment -?

Pinch in lower butt / upper hamstring. Can’t run. Problems sitting for long periods of time and driving. Mri’s are clear; so no disc problems. I have been stretching the pirformis muscle / groin stretching and touching toe (hamstring stretch) Not seeming to get better. Any advice? I tried massage therapy too. Is there a quick way to stretch muscles?
